44 Meters Per Second, for alto sax and piano

$7.99

Program Notes

44 m/s (98.4252 mph): the approximate movement speed of a cirrus cloud. The cirrus cloud is one of the lightest and highest-altitude clouds, and primarily consists of ice crystals. “Cirro” is Latin for “hair,” and these clouds resemble long, wispy strands of fiber. They begin to form at an altitude of around 20,000 ft (6,096 m), and they are considered one of the fastest-moving clouds. Being associated with warm fronts, they are commonly considered to be signs of an imminent change in weather. Through its soaring melodies and wispy, bouncy motifs, 44 Meters Per Second encapsulates the lightness of cirrus clouds, as well as the unpredictability of the weather they could bring.
